Who would have thought that even Reserve Bank of India Governor Raghuram Rajan needed a "recommendation" for school admission? Having studied in a French medium school for a while, it was a struggle for Rajan to get admission to a good Delhi school.
Recalling his childhood years while delivering the K B Lall Memorial Lecture in New Delhi last week, Rajan said: "It was because of KB Lall's strong recommendation letter that my brothers and I got admission to DPS R K Puram. The principal asked each of us a question and none of us could answer. But we were given admission after we handed over the recommendation letter by Dr Lall. I am sure it was the letter that did the convincing."
