 Deve Gowda says all the right things, but does all the wrong ones.
 What a problem this Janata Dal (Secular) is! It should have been all things to all liberals  it is a party representing the specificity of regional aspirations, floated by HD Deve Gowda, a son of the soil who made good, a socialist from conviction (though possibly not commitment); and as its name suggests, prizing secularism above all things.
