Aiming for the sweet spot

Though industry is always keen to receive incentive from the government, the sugar industry has a slightly different view. At a press conference in New Delhi last week, while pressing for the sugar export ban removal, Narendra Murkumbi, MD of Renuka Sugars, who is also president of the Indian Sugar Mills Association, said the government has to subsidise industry when losses are huge. However, he added that the sugar industry wanted to get past that stage.
