Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has advised the people of his state to "drink less". Yadav's remark came after his Bihar counterpart Nitish Kumar advised him to ban liquor in Uttar Pradesh.
Yadav was non-committal on the issue of liquor ban; he said "the decision cannot be taken in haste".
The interests of cane farmers and those employed in liquor shops were linked to that decision, he clarified. "At present, we can only advise people to drink less," he said.
