Union minister for roads Kamal Nath was in his element at the India Economic Summit (IES), though he appeared a bit forlorn and nostalgic sitting on a panel on international trade, substituting for his colleague Anand Sharma. The former Indian trade minister who gained notoreity in the West for his tough bargaining in Doha Round negotiations and who loved jet-setting around the world from one trade summit to another, was told by a British participant at the IES, amidst much laughter, “come back and save the Doha Round, all is forgiven!” That was clearly music to Mr Nath’s ears!
