Kids, there is no Santa Claus.
Girls, there is no George Clooney (Single) anymore.
No more can we go to the men’s section of a shopping mall and stare at a black suit picturing him in it. No more can we drift off during bad dates, re-living scenes of One Fine Day. No more can we doodle Mrs George Clooney on notepads at office meetings.
“You would never even meet him. He doesn’t know you exist,” sceptics say.
True it is, that none of us can ever reach to him, or even see him or meet him. A few of us do not want to meet him either. We just want the comfort of the world’s most good-looking man, single and unstringed. We never even see or meet God either. But, we want Him there, and talk to him. As long as God is in the Heavens, and Clooney is single in Hollywood………..everything was fine with the world and its most good-looking man.
He is Irish. He is Dutch. He is Scottish. And, he is also German. He is a mix and match that has has worked wonders. He was also an extremely bad looking child and a teenager. He is the true life proof of the fairy take of ugly-duckling to swan. Except, we did not know that it worked for men too.
It is not just his looks that made the cut, however. It is his voice, charm and more importantly, his wanton celebration of bachelorhood that made him the ultimate King of Single Women.
Meryl Streep made a speech on Clooney, at an award function. “George is like the dream boyfriend you have right out of college – sophisticated, older, knowledgeable about the ways of the world unlike all the callous, dopey undergraduates you so recently dated. And yet he is utterly, completely, thoroughly devoted, amazingly, to you. He calls, he writes, he charms, he disarms, you are in love, you are his socket. This is the guy. And then… you find out he has been hooking up in the past few months with women who look just like Cate Blanchett, Julia Roberts and Valerie Jarett. You are shocked, shocked and yet somehow you can never ever be really mad at him. George is everywhere and all at once and somehow never shows a dent on his bumper.”
No, we are not like Streep. We do not expect a man like Clooney to be faithful. He is a resource wasted on one woman. There are a few, who are born for everyone. Until now. Now, we hope he would be All of one, after years of being One for all. So, we can now fantasise a perfect husband, instead of a perfect bachelor.
