Media reports on the voices of dissent within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) have not gone down well with the party leadership. At a recent party meeting, as West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee got ready to begin her address, a senior member of the party rose from his seat to close the door. Before he could do so, Banerjee admonished that there was no point closing the door as confidential party information was anyway being leaked to the media. The door should be left open for members who indulged in chicanery so that they could leave and join the Bharatiya Janata Party, she said.
