An unlikely fallout

The demonetisation of Rs  1,000 and Rs 500 currency notes seems to have turned many people honest overnight. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said: “There are people who normally do not even bother to buy platform tickets, but after the demonetisation, they are queuing up at railway platform ticket counters with Rs 1,000 notes to take Rs 10 tickets.” For 72 hours post the announcement, ticket counters at railway stations, government bus depots and airports are accepting old notes for purchase of tickets.
