The 2016 Twenty20 World Cup has seen the arrival of marquee international cricketers in India. A plush south Mumbai hotel, where the cricket teams of England, West Indies and South Africa have been put up, has become the cynosure of all eyes. Mumbai Police officials, however, seem less than happy.
The limited-overs cricketing extravaganza has coincided with the Budget session of the Maharashtra Assembly and the arrest of former state deputy chief minister Chhagan Bhujbal by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case linked with the Maharashtra Sadan scam. This means most law enforcement personnel are required to work overtime.
