Akhilesh Yadav's tenure as Uttar Pradesh chief minister has been subject to the constant glare of media attention even more than most of his predecessors. But Yadav has learned how to deal with nosey journalists better than many of his counterparts. He even, occasionally, stumps them with his quick wit. During a recent press conference, a news channel reporter complained that tight security prevented the cars of media persons from being parked near the chief minister's residence. Flashing his impish smile, Yadav quipped that even bicycles could enter the chief minister's residential compound. The bicycle, of course, is the election symbol of Yadav's Samajwadi Party.
