Bid to upstage one another

Congress members in Odisha are caught in a tizzy, with two sections of the party organising separate functions on the same day in Bhubaneswar. While the Pradesh Congress Committee plans to hold a convention to mark 10 years of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, the flagship programme of the erstwhile United Progressive Alliance government at the Centre, the state unit of the Youth Congress wants to organise a Garjan Samavesh (show of strength) on the same day. A case of bad planning or factions trying to outdo each other?
