Piyush Goyal, minister of state for coal, power and renewable energy, has a new nickname given to him by the "cyber yoddhas" or social media managers of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
This happened two days after social media was rife with sarcastic messages when power tripped during a conference chaired by the minister to celebrate two years of the Modi government.
Though power tripped only for a few seconds over two instalments, television channels and websites were quick to run headlines about a "power-less" minister. Known for their strong social media presence, the cyber yoddhas of the party showed tremendous alacrity to salvage the image of the minister with this quirky follow-up.
As a party meeting on social media management got underway last week, some members of its media cell began tweeting photos with the minister tagging him as the "bijli-wale baba". Goyal obliged most of them with retweets and "thank you" messages.
