Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari, was recently in Kolkata to meet West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The two leaders were to discuss various pending and coming developmental projects in the state. Ever the great host, Banerjee activated the Chief Minister's Office to rustle up a multi-course lunch comprising popular Bengali dishes, complete with a range of fish-based items, for the Union minister. The officials in charge made arrangements accordingly, only to discover on the day of the meeting that Gadkari was a vegetarian. A self-proclaimed foodie, Gadkari helped himself to the few vegetarian dishes laid out for him at lunch.
