It is that time of the year when all of Karnataka starts preparing to celebrate its state festival, Dasara. This year the 10-day celebration will start on October 1 and end with the jamboo savari or the elephant procession going around Mysuru on October 11.
Top on the list of state guests this year is Sachin Tendulkar. Last year, the state broke its tradition of inviting celebrities because of the prevailing drought and invited a farmer, Puttaiah, the first-ever non-celebrity, to inaugurate the Mysuru Dasara. With the monsoon bounty, it's back to celebrities this year.
