A party, with alcohol included, organised by senior Congress leader Veerappa Moily for journalists on the outskirts of Bangalore ended prematurely. Just as the journalists began enjoying themselves, the men keeping a lookout sent an alert that election observers were coming. It turns out that someone had tipped off the state election commission that the party was being held in violation of the election code of conduct. The journalists made such a speedy exit that most of them left their plates and fled the scene without even washing their hands.
