Generating a warm buzz of publicity for the national launch of the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' programme by the Prime Minister on January 22 in Panipat has become a top priority for the information and broadcasting ministry, with many a meeting these days devoted to the arrangements. Full-page Haryana government advertisements grace Delhi newspapers; about a dozen Directorate of Advertising & Visual Publicity video vans are likely to be in attendance at the event, not to mention representatives from Doordarshan and All India Radio. Haryana, no doubt, has a skewed sex ratio, but its proximity to Delhi, going to the polls on February 7, may not be irrelevant to the choice of venue for the national launch of the programme. Holding the event in Delhi would have been difficult due to poll code restrictions.
