After an hour-long press conference on his eponymous foundation's plans, Shiv Nadar, founder-chairman of HCL Group, asked a waiter in the five-star hotel for a cup of Madras coffee. He was, however, unhappy with what was served to him -with the milk and sugar separate instead of the milky infusion to which Nadar was referring. "I want Madras coffee the way it is made, premixed with milk," the first-gen IT entrepreneur, now touching 70 years, told the confused attendant. A fresh cup of coffee arrived shortly. Still not satisfied, he reluctantly took a couple of sips. Sitting next to him, Nadar's associate paraphrased his boss's feelings best: "This is Madras coffee, north-Indian style".
