Prime Minister Narendra Modi's old rival Sanjay Joshi has resurfaced. Posters have sprung up in several parts of Ahmedabad that demand that Joshi be brought back to save the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Similar posters had appeared and disappeared in the past as well. Joshi, once a powerful leader of the BJP and a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh pracharak, was sidelined after Modi became the BJP's most popular face.
Party insiders say the recent debacle of the BJP in the Gujarat local body elections and the Bihar Assembly poll defeat might have prompted Joshi's supporters to launch a campaign calling for his reinstatement.
