Confessions of a 'giver'

For most candidates in an election, seeking votes and making promises are par for the course. But the Bharatiya Janata Party's Roopa Ganguly confessed that she found it difficult to ask anything for herself.

The actor, who played one of the most memorable roles of a wife on Indian television - Draupadi in the mythological series Mahabharata - is contesting from Howrah North in the ongoing West Bengal Assembly elections. She claimed she didn't have to rely on false promises either.

As a "giver", seeking votes directly is out of the question. "So I don't say that you must vote for me," she said on her campaign trail.
