Post its poll rout, the Congress has only really experienced desertions from amongst its ranks. So when, in Rajasthan, it recently had three of its former members returning to the fold, the Grand Old Party was certainly elated. The three were brought to Delhi and welcomed back into the Congress "family" by a senior general secretary of the All-India Congress Committee, in the presence of the media. The Congress described the trio - ex-MLA Rita Choudhary, former Home Secretary J P Chandaliya and current Independent MLA Rajkumar Sharma - as having been "momentarily miffed" with the party for being denied tickets, but added that they "subsequently patched up their differences and returned home". When asked if this was the Congress' version of "ghar wapsi", the Congressman heartily agreed that indeed it was. (The Congress in Opposition has been stoutly opposing the Sangh Parivar's programme of religious conversion that it terms "ghar wapsi".)
