Conspicuous by absence

AirAsia may have been able to lure value-conscious Indians to avail of it massive discounts and take-offs on holidays to Goa, but Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus of Tata Sons and chief advisor to the board of AirAsia India, is not ready yet to rush to its Bangalore office and give the boys a pat on their backs. Tata, along with AirAsia Group Chief Executive Tony Fernandes, AirAsia India CEO Mittu Chandilya and other board members, was earlier expected to attend the launch party of the airline scheduled to be held in Bangalore today (July 3). The media invite has been revised subsequently to convey the change of plan.
