Low-cost carriers in India seem to have become ultra-conscious of their reputation for being frugal. Recently, at a press conference at a five-star hotel in the capital, SpiceJet Chief Operating Officer Sanjiv Kapoor was quick to clarify, "The ambience is more of a club here than of an event being held by a low-cost carrier. I must point out this is being sponsored by our partner TajSats" Earlier in July last year, AirAsia Chief Tony Fernandes, too, had made a similar assertion. His first media session in the capital at one of the city's most expensive hotels was sponsored by partner Tata, he told the media.
