A promotional video for a special edition of the hit quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati on north-east India has infuriated the Union government. In the promo, host Amitabh Bachchan is shown asking a participant where Kohima is located and gives him four options: China, India, Bhutan and Nepal. The participant takes a "lifeline" from the audience and then gives the correct answer. The Union government admits the intention of the show is to increase awareness about India's north-eastern states but it has written to the organisers ordering them to take the promo off-air immediately. Its objection: the options for the answers could have been chosen from other north-eastern states rather than China, Bhutan and Nepal, a point that could raise uncomfortable questions while Parliament is in session.
