Cricket is King

While money managers in Europe were busy solving the Eurozone debt crisis, Bank of England Governor Sir Mervyn King was worried for a different reason. The UK is outside the Eurozone, so Sir Mervyn had the luxury of being worried about whether the Test between India and England at Lord’s, where he was present, would be rained out while England was in a strong position. “Central bankers never talk about what the worst-case scenario is. At present, the worst-case scenario is that this weather has set in and we are not going to get a single ball bowled for the rest of the day,” Daily Telegraph quoted him as saying. For the record, Sir Mervyn was at Lord’s in his capacity as president of Chance to Shine, an initiative promoting cricket in state schools.
