Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh met Road and Transport Minister Kamal Nath to request him to expedite the four-laning of the national highway between Raipur and Bilaspur. To underscore the urgency, a state government minister who’d come along with Singh said the road was so bad you had to invoke divine help by reciting the Hanuman Chaalisa while using it. Since Nath nodded, this prompted Singh to say, “Chaliye aap Hanuman Chaalisa to padte hain” (I’m glad you recite the Hanuman Chaalisa).” It’s not clear, however, whether Nath was nodding at the statement that the road was bad or that users needed divine help while using it.
