Preparations for a rally to be addressed by Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah were in full swing in a small city in Gujarat, with partymen working overtime to put things in order. Shah’s security team arrived at the venue a few days early to make sure “all the boxes were ticked”. On the day of the rally, when the hotel staff started with the floral arrangements, Shah’s security head lost his temper. The organisers had used an abundance of marigold, a flower Shah is allergic to. Someone apparently forgot to include this detail in the docket sent to the organisers. Things were sorted out over the next few hours but the organisers rued that there weren’t as many flowers as they would have wanted.
