Someone is watching too many cartoon shows on television. Congress veteran and leader of the opposition in the Maharashtra state assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil led a blistering attack against the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government in the state for not fulfilling its promises and said, “This government is like the Doraemon show and the public has become Nobita. The way Doraemon takes Nobita away from reality and shows him unrealisable dreams, the same is being done by this government with the public.” State Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was quick to rebut. In the recent local body elections, he said, it has been “har jagah phool khila hain” — taking off from “Jungle jungle phool khila hai”, the title song from the film version of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book. He added that the opposition was behaving like Mowgli. A first-time legislator reacted: “Achhe din ahead for both Doraemon and Mowgli.”
