Surface Transport Minister Kamal Nath is decisive. At a recent conclave, he took both the ministry’s secretary Brahm Dutt as well as the National Highways Authority of India chairman Brajeshwar Singh to task.
He read out some of the problems faced by those wishing to invest in the sector and asked Singh why the problem hadn’t been fixed. Before Singh could reply, Nath asked him how long he’d take to fix it; and before Singh could respond, Nath asked investors to give Singh three weeks before reporting the matter to him. Now that’s fast.
