The Congress party is back in power and various MPs have become ministers, but what have the party’s faithful staffers got? Congress President Sonia Gandhi decided she’d do something about it and, after the party came back to power, 150-odd workers in the party headquarters got a bonus — three months’ salary.
After this, however, the party office has been getting calls from various state units asking for similar bonuses. “We are advising them to ask their state president for bonus. Sonia Gandhi has given us a bonus as we are a part of the central team,” is what a senior Congress office secretary said about the matter.
