With Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee busy campaigning in West Bengal for the Assembly elections, various railway committees have stopped functioning as well. The reason: some of the members have resigned and are trying their luck in the polls. Amit Mitra, the head of the expert committee of the railways, has resigned before contesting the election from Khardah against the state’s Finance Minister Asheem Dasgupta. Bratya Basu, member of the committee for cultural promotion, has also resigned to try his luck in the election. Ruqbanur Rehman, Rachpal singh, Sultan Singh and Sardar Amjad Ali, members of various other committees, too, have resigned for the same reason.
