Infighting within the Congress in Chhattisgarh has reached such absurd lengths that former Union Minister and veteran Congress leader Vidyacharan Shukla undertook a 250-km journey to Raigarh all the way from Raipur. The objective: to denigrate fellow Congressman Naveen Jindal, whose steel facility is located in Raigarh. Shukla said Jindal may be a member of Parliament but he was not a true Congressman because his name figures in the current coal block allocation scandal. What is more, Shukla said, he’s done nothing to strengthen the Congress party in the state, a point he obviously felt important enough to make in Raigarh, a city he hasn’t visited in the last couple of years.
