Renewable Energy Minister Farooq Abdullah is quite open about the fact that not too many people in his state think too highly of his new job. He is called, he said, the gobar gas minister. Abdullah said that soon after he was sworn in and allocated the new and renewable energy portfolio, he received a call from a Kashmiri politician who lamented his being ‘demoted to gobar gas minister’.
Abdullah recalled retorting, “Why are you so cynical? Remember, it is the same field for which that bearded man (Teri chief RK Pachauri) received the Nobel prize.’’
