The most closely scrutinised social event of the season was the wedding of Congress leader Digvijaya Singh's son, Jaivardhan. Every neta, small and big, came for the reception at Delhi's Ashoka Hotel, even Amit Jogi, the son of former Chhattisgarh Congress Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, who was considered Singh's rival in the politics of Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh. As a mark of special respect, the groom greeted him and saw Jogi (Jr) to the food tables, holding him by the hand. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi arrived separately and stayed for 10 minutes; Modi getting pictures clicked with the newly weds in which he was flanked by Naveen Jindal and his wife Shalu. That was just a coincidence.
