Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman of Bharti Enterprises, tried his best to please the minister for communications and information technology, Ravi Shankar Prasad, who had been miffed with telecom operators because of persistent dropped calls.

At an event, Mittal spoke of the time when he started his telecom journey and how he had to work hard to convince a vendor that money would flow in if customers were happy. And now, he said, if the minister and the regulator were happy, he would have no problems raising funds for investment.

Mittal was referring to Bharti Airtel's planned investment of Rs 60,000 crore over three years to upgrade its network. The minister, however, was not amused and once again blamed operators for the lack of infrastructure investment and the worsening call drop situation.
