As people thronged bank branches to deposit/withdraw/exchange cash, many fell back on humour to mitigate their plight. At a long queue to exchange old notes with new ones in one of the branches of a public sector bank in Kolkata, a few customers sought water from the security guard at the gate, another asked for biscuits. The guard jovially replied, “Now you will ask for lunch and dinner,” as the crowd burst into laughter.
