The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) may be the most premier institutes for management studies in the country, but even they don’t measure up when it comes to competing against the legendary Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh. Recently, when faced with questions about their money-raising abilities, the director of one of the leading IIMs remarked that while they were struggling to raise funds, despite being “temples of learning”, they felt inferior to Tirupati, which raises an average of Rs 2 crore a day.
