The newly formed Group of Ministers (GoM) to monitor and respond to the media meets almost daily to take stock of the situation. Last week, after a meeting of the GoM, the members were pondering over who should go and brief the media. Some suggested petroleum minister Jaipal Reddy should interact with the press with the government’s daily dose of news. Reddy, who otherwise enjoys an affable relation with the press, refused to go and said, “The press is interested to know just one thing from me — oil prices. And, I won’t be able to satisfy them on other issues.”
