As pressure keeps piling on Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders in West Bengal over the Narada sting tapes, rival Congress workers are in a quandary. While state-level Congress leaders Abdul Mannan, Om Prakash Mishra and others have been accusing the TMC of corruption and rejoiced at the Calcutta High Court’s ruling in a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry, the party’s national leaders — Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Manu Singhvi, both lawyers — defended the TMC in the Supreme Court. Congress workers in the state are wondering what the “official” stance of their party is towards the TMC.
