They won't have to look too far. Officials grumbling about the "Swachhta Pledge" could take their cues from Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha, who on Thursday afternoon was seen surveying the corridors of North Block for their cleanliness, a small entourage in tow.
That was just an hour and a half after all the ministers and bureaucrats had taken the pledge. Sinha was seen studying not just the floors but also the walls and ceilings.
It is common knowledge that the farther a corridor or a section of the finance ministry is from the ministers' and secretaries' offices, the dirtier it is. So Sinha made it a point to inspect those sections too.
