At the Aam Aadmi Party’s first press conference after the Delhi polls were announced, a journalist jokingly asked party chief Arvind Kejriwal whether he would open an institution in Delhi for conducting sting operations if he came to power. The context was that Kejriwal, during his 49-day stint as chief minister of Delhi, had asked citizens visiting government offices to conduct sting operations to keep a tab on corrupt officials. The question had everyone laughing except Kejriwal who initially looked taken aback and then replied quite seriously, “I think that is meant for journalists and investigative reporting. It’s just that we have to perform your duties at times.”
