The Congress was recently thrust into the headlines with yet another miffed senior leader, as Karan Singh, incharge of the All India Congress Committee's foreign cell, was excluded from the party delegation that met visiting US President Barack Obama. Karan Singh was reportedly offended on being dropped while former Union minister Anand Sharma was included in the delegation. It reportedly took the cajoling powers of party President Sonia Gandhi, who was also in the delegation, to placate Karan Singh. The rationale given to him was that the invitation had been extended to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the others had just accompanied him. Party insiders, however, reveal that Karan Singh was the logical and obvious choice but Sharma came into the picture only later.
