I thoroughly enjoyed reading Sanjaya Baru’s article “Growth, stability and corruption” (July 11). It covered important and relevant insights that people have been shy to state. Although the author did not venture into south-east Asia, he would have found rich fodder in Indonesia. The best-performing equity market on a year-to-date basis, the country is hardly the example of low corruption.

The unwritten cardinal rule of not washing dirty laundry in pubic was violated in India with corruption scandals.
