Apropos the editorial "No walk in the park" (May 21). The 20 per cent post-harvest losses in fruits and vegetables, and similar losses routinely incurred in procurement, processing, storage and distribution in other food categories (notably cereal) are usually ignored by economists if the segment is showing growth in terms of money value (revenues). However, from the food security point of view, these are more relevant today. I agree with the views expressed in the editorial that an apolitical national policy needs to be evolved, given the potential benefits of efficient value-addition through food parks.
