Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik is within his constitutional right to question the continuation of the absconding Gayatri Prajapati, who is accused of rape, as a minister in Akhilesh Yadav’s (pictured) cabinet on the grounds of “constitutional morality and dignity”. It is a different matter that such concerns were not raised in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled Gujarat where a minister reportedly continued in the state cabinet even after his conviction.
