Virender Sehwag’s sixer against the Delhi & Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) exposes the rot in the selection process. When a cricketer of Sehwag’s caliber threatens to switch to another state if things don’t improve, it is time one took notice. The selection process, and not just in the Delhi team, has always been a mystery and Sehwag’s actions have exposed this. The cricket authorities in the country have to realise that if they continue to play games, the impact on cricket will be quite serious.
The BCCI’s stranglehold on cricket has always been a problem and it is a fact that our cricketers are playing too much cricket and that is hurting their performance.
