Business Standard New Delhi

The government’s decision to give airline companies time till March 2009 to pay their Rs 2,962 crore dues to the three state-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) is a right step in the direction of defusing the prevailing dismal scene in the Indian aviation industry. The proposed fortnightly revision of prices of aviation fuel is a pragmatic decision. This realistic revision will definitely ensure a true reflection of the fall in crude oil prices in the international market. The airline companies should make a better use of the offers given by the government so that they can stay on track even amid any financial crisis in the industry.
