“Rest of the ‘piram-id’” (May 24) is an eye-opener in many ways, but it also exaggerates the case. It is unfortunate that Indian pharmaceutical firms are exiting in favour of MNCs as this has the potential to reduce the innovative steps that have resulted in lower drug prices in the country. But the biggest innovations the world over come from smaller firms, not from large, established players. As long as smaller firms remain innovative, there is no reason to fear anything.
