The total exposure of over Rs 7,000 crore to the Vijay Mallya-promoted Kingfisher Airlines in the year 2005 indicates the inefficiency of the banks’ executives in assessing the requirements on the occasion of every renewal-cum-enhancement proposal.
Could it be that the enhancement of exposure to the airline was dictated by some other force rather than a pragmatic assessment? Or is it that bank executives these days lack the ability to appraise a loan proposal?
