Sanjaya Baru’s “Looking east again” (October 25) made an interesting read. I, however, wonder if we should give so much thrust to such ideologies in this day and age. India must actively engage with all those nations and geographies, whether east or west, that help advance its own national interest. Having a “look east” policy insinuates that it is at the cost of the other geographies. In this regard, perhaps giving so much importance to the east may be an undue waste of time and resources.
