It is difficult to understand why there were no bids for top Pakistani players in the latest round of the IPL. Perhaps the bidding teams felt that, in the backdrop of Pakistan-based attacks on India, the audience may turn violent.
What is interesting that, even otherwise, the level of bidding is way below what was expected. While Kevin Pieterson and Andrew Flintoff got Rs 7.4 crore each in the last bid, Kieron Pollard and Shane Bond got a much lower Rs 4.6 crore in the latest round. Perhaps, companies are finding the audience response to the IPL is slowly waning?
